These tutorials introduce various different functional areas of Autodesk® Maya®, Autodesk® MatchMover™ and Maya Composite in a set of lessons. The lessons are accompanied by scene files that you can use to learn at your own pace. View the PDF files and download the necessary lesson data files.
Note: The Getting Started with Maya lesson files are installed in your Maya directory when you install Maya. Alternately, you can download the lesson files from here. The lesson files for Maya Live are provided as a separate download.
Maya Composite
The Maya Composite tutorials introduce you to the application UI and basic workflows, including creating a composition, importing footage, using hotkeys, adding tools, connecting passes and renders, and compositing renders. In addition, these tutorials cover blend modes, color correction and fine tuning results. View the PDF file and download the necessary lesson data files.
Maya MatchMover Tutorials
Learn to perform basic matchmoving techniques including loading images sequences, tracking a sequence, and then exporting the tracked rendered 3D data to file that can be used in 3D animation and compositing programs. You will also learn how to create a track manually using supervised tracking and set up survey points. View the PDF file and download the necessary lesson data files.

The Advanced Techniques tutorials are designed for intermediate and advanced users and concentrate on specific, complex topics and techniques in Autodesk® Maya® software. View PDFs of the lessons and download the scene files you want to work with.
Maya nParticles
The Maya nParticles advanced techniques tutorial demonstrates the use of three types of nParticle systems: an nParticle output mesh, a 3D fluid with container, and an external gravity field, to create the effect of molten metal pouring down a chute into a tub. You can use these components to create effects that combine nParticle systems and fluids such as lava flows, flowing liquids, and more.
Maya nCloth The Maya nCloth advanced techniques tutorial demonstrates a workflow that allows you to simulate high-resolution clothing mesh using nCloth. In the tutorial, two lower-resolution versions of a high-resolution mesh clothing are converted to nCloth and then simulated. Using a wrap deformer, the nCloth objects become influence objects for the high-resolution mesh clothing, which then behaves the same as the simulated nCloth. Using this workflow, you can quickly create animated behaviors unique to simulated cloth using high-resolution meshes.
Maya Muscle The Maya Muscle advanced techniques tutorials illustrate how to use the Maya Muscle skin deformer for your own characters and projects. The Muscle Builder example is designed to offer a basic overview of Maya Muscle features as applied to cMuscleSpline-based muscles. In addition, you’ll learn the basic workflow and features of the Maya Muscle Creator in several lessons.
